Directed by David Ayer and written by Kurt Wimmer, The Beekeeper is a 2024 action thriller and vigilante justice film starring Jason Statham as Adam Clay. A retired operative living a quiet life, Clay is thrust back into violence when his neighbor, Eloise Parker, falls victim to a sophisticated phishing scam that leads to her tragic suicide. This inciting incident reveals Clay's past as a member of the Beekeepers, a clandestine organization that operates outside government jurisdiction to protect the national hive from systemic corruption.
The narrative follows Clay on a brutal revenge mission against a criminal enterprise specializing in elder fraud. As he dismantles high-tech call centers, he faces opposition from FBI agents Verona Parker and Matt Wiley, along with elite mercenaries. The primary antagonist, Derek Danforth, played by Josh Hutcherson, is a corrupt executive protected by a web of political influence. The film uses a bee motif to explore themes of balance and correction, depicting Clay as a force of nature treating corporate parasites as threats to societal stability.
Combining visceral martial arts and explosive set pieces, the movie features a supporting cast including Jeremy Irons and Phylicia Rashad.
