In an early concept for GTA 4, the game map was originally intended to be much larger, featuring an area known as "The Carraways." This additional location would have expanded beyond Liberty City, potentially offering a more diverse and expansive environment. However, due to technical limitations and development decisions, Rockstar Games ultimately scaled down the map to focus on the detailed cityscape of Liberty City. The Carraways were cut from the final version of the game, leaving them a mystery in the lore of early GTA 4 development. This decision allowed the team to refine the core gameplay and narrative without the need for a massive open world.
