In this tutorial for Age of Empires 2, I cover how to find your sheep in the Dark Age. Many new players struggle if they don't locate their sheep quickly enough, so in this guide I show how to scout for your sheep, what to do if you find your sheep late, and how to micromanage your villagers to take your sheep efficiently.

When scouting, it is important to use your villagers to scout if you don't see your sheep right at the start.
Other villagers can collect from straggler trees, berries, or even gold while waiting for your sheep to come to your town center.
Sheep spawn 10-12 tiles from the town center, so make sure to use your time scouting this region and not regions outside of it.

If your sheep are late, you can put 7 villagers on sheep, skip building the initial house, or research loom to prevent town center idle time.

Make sure to micro your sheep villagers underneath your town center.
As a sheep is running out of food, select your villagers and right click the next sheep so that they move to it directly instead of standing around idle for a few seconds.
Be sure to drop off resources before moving your villagers to gather from your sheep.
