Emerald Welcome Centre would like to update you on important changes to the asylum system in Ireland that may affect your case. These changes start on July 1st, 2025. Let me explain what this means for you personally.”
1. THE BIG PICTURE - What’s Happening
Two main changes are happening:
Change 1: Faster Processing from 1st July 2025
• The government is testing new “accelerated procedures” to make decisions faster
• This is practice for new EU rules that start in June 2026
• Your case will be decided more quickly - both the first decision and any appeal
Change 2: New Digital System
• You can now download your documents and decisions online
• You can share these directly with us (your legal support representative) digitally
2. WHO IS AFFECTED IMMEDIATELY
If you’re from Georgia, Brazil, or India:
Your case is affected starting from July 1st, 2025
What changes for you:
• Location change: Your interviews and appointments will now be at Citywest (not Mount Street)
• Faster timeline: Your decision will come more quickly
• Appeal process: If you need to appeal, that will also be faster
• Same legal rights: Your legal protections haven’t changed - just the speed
If you’re from any other country:
Your case is NOT affected yet, but:
• These changes might extend to you in October 2025
• The new digital portal applies to everyone now
• We’ll monitor how this affects others before your turn
3. WHAT THIS MEANS PRACTICALLY FOR YOU
The Good News:
✓ Less waiting time - you’ll know the outcome of your case sooner
✓ Better access to your own documents - you can download them anytime
✓ Easier sharing - you can send me your documents digitally
✓ Same legal protections - the law protecting you hasn’t changed
The Challenges:
Less preparation time - we need to get your case ready faster
New location (for Georgia/Brazil/India applicants) - you need to travel to Citywest.
Learning curve - new digital system to understand

• Right to an interpreter
• Right to legal representation (me)
• Right to appeal negative decisions
• Protection from being returned to danger
• Right to have your case properly considered
4. IMMEDIATE ACTION ITEMS
For Everyone:
1. Set up portal access - I’ll help you register for the new online system
2. Update contact details - make sure your email address is current
3. Check your phone/email regularly for notifications
For Georgia, Brazil & India applicants:
1. Note location change - all future appointments at Citywest
2. Prepare documents faster - we need to work more quickly on your case
3. Be ready for an earlier interview - they may schedule you sooner than before
5. THE NEW DIGITAL PORTAL - What You Need to Know
What you CAN do now:
• Download your application form
• Download any decisions made about your case
• Share these documents with me electronically
• Access the portal on your phone or computer
What you CANNOT do yet:
• Upload new documents (this feature is coming soon)
• Reply to messages through the portal
How it works:
• You’ll get an email when new documents are available
• You log in to download them
• You can then email or share them with me
6. TIMELINE EXPECTATIONS
Phase 1 (July 1 - October 2025):
• Georgia, Brazil, and India applicants in accelerated process
• Everyone gets new digital portal access
Phase 2 (October 2025):
• May extend to applicants from 12 other “safe countries”
• More digital features expected
June 2026:
• EU Pact becomes mandatory
• These changes become permanent across EU

“Will my case be decided fairly if it’s faster?”
“Yes. The law protecting you hasn’t changed. They’re making the process more efficient, not less fair. You still have the same rights and protections.”
“What if I don’t understand the digital system?”
“I’m here to help you. We’ll go through it together, and the portal works on phones too, so it’s designed to be user-friendly.”
“Should I be worried about these changes?”
“These changes are meant to help people get decisions faster, which is generally good. The important thing is that we work together to prepare your case properly within the new timelines.”
“What if I disagree with a faster decision?”
“You still have the full right to appeal, and that process is also faster now, which means less waiting time for you.”
