Boiler Bay - the story

Pioneered in the mid 70s and then remained largely unridden until the 1990s when a small crew of guys would get the report from Jeff Scariano Jeff lived above the wave in a mud puddle called Boiler Bay RV park —in his camper.
Jeff was the only goofy footer and was considered the best in the barrel. An extremely hollow “reef break” on volcanic rock. most didnt visit the deepest haunts of its barrel due to the dry rock shelf it exploded on.
Urchins in every crack of the shelf.
No surf reports and no internet. Most surfers there didnt even have cable television.
Before the casinos were built, the Oregon coast was a hideaway for hermits and runaways. Perfect for hardcore surfers who hate crowds and dont mind harsh weather.
Demanding conditions. But incredible rewards

The surfers of today have weather reports to help them score Boiler in its perfection much more regularly. But the bay was a proving ground which paved the way for the next group. And because the 90s were not equipped with video technology its amazing to watch the few existing VHS captures.
