IRIJI ,(New Yam Festival) 2024 of the Igbo in Hertfordshire United Kingdom

The 10th of August 2024 was a day to remember, as the Igbo speaking people living in Hertfordshire converged together in one accord to celebrate one of the most exciting traditions in Igbo land.

The New Yam Festival is a culture that has been celebrated hundreds of years and very significant since it means the End of an old season and the beginning of a new one,it is an opportunity for the igbos to thank their creator for his benevolence on them,while praying for better fortunes in the future.

It will be recalled that the Ndigbo Association Of Hertfordshire United Kingdom started as an initiative Mazi Engineer Alexander Onyebuchi Geoman and a few others who saw the need to unite the igbos living in Stevenage and in doing so render assistance to each other,on the 5th of November 2016,the first sets of Executives were inaugurated, and they were as follows..
