Описание к видео Mom advocates for domestic violence awareness

On Thursday, April 11, the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office received a request for a welfare check at 425 Millette Road in Minot. Authorities discovered the bodies of a young couple, Emali Renee Sallee (the young woman of the couple).

Police later ruled it a murder-suicide.

Four days after the murder-suicide, the murder victim's mother ( Heidi Sallee ) shared her story to help others.

"Have a police officer at the house when she was leaving because that was the only way that it would have prevented anything from happening," Sallee said.

Sallee said she never could have imagined her daughter would be the victim of domestic violence homicide.

"I would never have thought that he would have shot her, no," Sallee said.

Sallee said her daughter, Emali Sallee, 19, was shot to death as she was retrieving her belongings from the trailer she shared with her boyfriend, 20-year-old Tyson Peters. The two had been together for three years, Sallee said.

Maine State Police said Peters killed Sallee and then killed himself. Police said Peters died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"She trusted him with her life quite literally. Because she thought she could do whatever she needed to do, and he was just going to be upset and move on. As anybody else would, and he ended up taking it. That's the worst part," Sallee said.

Sallee said her daughter was a giving person, a CNA who enjoyed helping others. She was also a young mother, leaving behind a two-year-old daughter.
