Shawn Green’s brief stint with the New York Mets came late in his career but still produced solid, professional offense in 2006 and 2007. Acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 22, 2006, Green brought a veteran presence and pop to a Mets team in win-now mode. Over two seasons in New York, he appeared in 164 games, batting .284 with a .346 on-base percentage and a .433 slugging percentage, totaling 14 home runs, 61 RBIs, 39 doubles, and a .779 OPS. While 2006 was one of the weaker power seasons of his career, Green delivered quality at-bats, hit well against left-handed pitching, and contributed in the postseason as the Mets reached the NLCS. Injuries limited him in 2007, but he remained productive when on the field before retiring after the season, closing the book on a highly accomplished #MLB career.
