Communal violence erupted in Nepal's Birganj area following clashes between two communities over a parking dispute on the evening of February 19th. The minor disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation in this Muslim-dominated area, where reports indicate a Hindu youth was attacked with a sword. The tensions led Nepal police to impose an indefinite curfew in key areas of the city to contain the hostility. According to reports, cases are being enforced in Gaur in the district headquarters area and other parts of the district until further notice. The Rohterheim district security committee has convened meetings to assess the situation, and Nepal's federal government has assured force augmentation in the region. The incident occurs ahead of Nepal's scheduled elections on March 5th, amid reports of various electoral clashes between different communities and groups across the country.
