Presented By: Amanda Burke, PhD

Speaker Biography: Amanda received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University in 2008. She conducted her PhD Studies at Pennington Biomedical Research Center where her research focused on characterizing a subpopulation of leptin receptor neurons that mediates food-motivated behavior. After receiving her PhD in 2014, Amanda completed a 4 year post doc at Scripps Research dissecting neural populations responsible for drug-related compulsivity and relapse.

Amanda joined Miltenyi Biotec in 2018 where she has been supporting our UltraMicroscope user base.

Webinar Abstract: The ability of light sheet microscopy to interrogate organoids, whole brain, and systems in 3D enables the study of complex neurological pathways, vasculature and disease models in unique ways. We will discuss considerations in tissue clearing and staining as well as state of the art technology that provides automation, cutting-edge optics, and flexibility of samples from batch imaging all the way up to an entire cleared adult mouse. We will show examples of how this technology is used in several areas of research to study neurological disease and function.

2. Break down automated high resolution 3D light sheet technology.

3. List practical applications for 3D light sheet microscopy in neuroscience.
