Back in the 70s and 80s, Fane's iconic Crescendo speakers (both the A and E versions) were hugely popular - and there has been much debate over the years as to the extent that David Gilmour may have used them in his Hiwatt rigs. Those vintage examples are now held in high regard and command steep prices on the used market.

But fear not! Fane has recently released a reimagining of the old classic in the Crescendo Anniversary Edition. Think of this not as a 'reissue' or 'clone' - but as a development of the OG...maintaining a similar sonic space whilst bringing it into the modern day. With a colossal ceramic magnet at its heart, this 100W monster won't be fazed by pretty much any amp you could throw at it; and it perfectly straddles the line between modern punch and vintage detail. The lows are tight, the highs are clear, and the traditionally balanced Fane midrange makes sure that you'll be heard in the mix without ripping anybody's eardrums out.

Today, I'll be putting it through its paces with a few classic, British-voiced tube amps - and throwing a few era-correct vintage effects in too. Who knows, maybe the spirit of Mr Gilmour will be in there somewhere?!
