About half of all people with type 2 diabetes will eventually need to take insulin to keep their blood sugars in a healthy range. Basal insulin is a good next step when certain conditions are met, and is a simple treatment that can be introduced very safely. This video describes how to start a patient on basal insulin.

This video is one of over 30 videos in our series on diabetes prevention and care.
