Review: Sony WH-1000XM3 vs. an Audiophile

What if everything you've heard about the Sony WH-1000XM3 is true... except the sound quality? I like exceptional electronics, but I'm also an audio nerd and wanted to see if these Sony noise cancelling headphones live up to their reputation. Do the Sonys stack up to $300 headphones for someone like me?
