Thule CS-10 Snow Tire Chains : Fantastic chains at a fantastic price, with 2-day Prime shipping (+ Saturday delivery charge). I needed a set of chains for my 2011 BMW 335i, really FAST for a short trip to Tahoe. I felt it was "worth-it" to buy a set of self-tensioning, wheel protection, chains that would not destroy my fenders or wheels. I researched all of the chains, vendors, and reviews and settled on the Thule CG-9 tire chains. Amazon didn't have my tire size in stock (095) so I thought I had to settle for the lesser model CB-12 ... because I didn't want to pay $ 200.00 for the CS-10. On a hunch, I searched-out the CS-10 on Amazon and found that my size was in-stock for even LESS $$ than the CG-9's ($ 146.00) ! Bought them, and received them in 2 days ! Having successfully self-installed these on my 2011 335i, I have the following experience to convey.
1) These chains are NOT dumb, hunks of chainmail. They are precision-engineered, precision-operating works of art. As with many such engineering marvels, they have to be carefully and accurately installed or they simply won't work. You must have the patience, and a modicum of mechanical aptitude to install these properly. They aren't complicated, but they simply are NOT very forgiving if you install them WRONG. It has been advised here before, and it is absolutely TRUE ... you MUST do a test-installation while your car is in the garage or driveway to LEARN how to install these beauties. It got really excited after watching how simple and quick the installation of these chains were by watching several YouTube videos. However, these videos depicted cars/trucks with ample clearance between the top of the tire and the fender. Sadly, my automobile offered no such luxury of clearance.
