Luxurious Safari Experience at Solio Lodge! 🦏 Is It Worth It?

Solio Lodge is a true gem nestled within a breathtaking rhino conservancy. This is not just any safari — it’s an unforgettable escape into the heart of nature, where luxury seamlessly intertwines with wildlife conservation.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the manager, Tess, along with other dedicated staff members, including Bailey, the lodge’s friendly dog, who my children were particularly excited to meet.

As we stepped into the spacious lobby, we were mesmerized by the elegant design that harmoniously blends modern comforts with traditional African charm.

Solio Lodge is situated within the dedicated rhino conservancy of Solio Ranch, located in the Laikipia Region. This prime location offers a rare opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, allowing for unforgettable wildlife encounters.

The lodge provides a plethora of activities to immerse you in the beauty of the African wilderness. From guided game drives to horseback riding and feeding baby rhinos, each experience is thoughtfully designed to connect you with the rich biodiversity of the conservancy. We loved our family suite; it was exceptionally spacious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals offered throughout our stay.

While our experience was fantastic overall, we did encounter a minor misunderstanding regarding our return flight. There was some confusion with our itinerary. Although it stated we were departing from Nanyuki Airstrip, which is relatively close to the lodge, we were informed that we would instead be leaving from Mt. Kenya Airstrip, necessitating an additional hour of travel. Ironically, once we boarded the plane, we learned that the flight had just come from Nanyuki Airstrip!

I recommend a stay of three nights so you can take full advantage of all that Solio has to offer.

The nightly rate for the family suite is $5,566.00 USD, which includes meals and game drives, plus a daily fee of $202.40 per adult and $132.00 per child for Solio Conservation Fees. In my opinion, it is truly worth the investment.
