Some of you might have learned how to greet people using cómo se llama, cómo te llamas, cómo le va etc.... the one we teach in the video is a strategic choice! It is great for beginner Spanish students for many reasons. Don't get caught up with learning 10 different ways to say hello to someone when you don't even have verb conjugations, power verbs, sentence structure, vocab. etc....

It is important to learn one way to do something for now so that you have storage space in your brain to learn more other essential material! The greetings on this video work anywhere with any Spanish speaking native.

Keep in mind that conversations can be predictable but can also be unpredictable so the dialogue presented to you in the video is an example of what you can expect out there but there is no guarantee that you will literally have the same dialogue, when you are out there! This video will help you a lot in getting comfortable with a simple but powerful way to connect with people!

Always remember that greetings DO NOT MEAN ANYTHING, if you don't have the right energy to go along with them! Be joyful with your interactions out there and DO NOT WORRY about insignificant things, like remembering all your vocab. As soon as you start talking to someone, be focused on the experience of being with them and know that they are happy to be with you and to get to know you!

When I say that pronunciation, grammar etc.. are not important I mean that they should not be the thing you obsess about while speaking Spanish! They are very important things that have their time and place.

Enjoy your connections and show people who you are and what you bring to the table! Once you are more experienced, you can learn other greeting variations etc.. We stuck to formal greetings because they work anywhere and with anyone especially, if you have good energy and an approachable nature! Spanish formal greetings are like "the little black dress" you can't go wrong with it! Informal greetings can't offend someone but may not be the best approach in certain situations hence why we made formal Spanish greetings a priority in this video!
