(23 May 2017) Hours after a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester killed 22 people and injured dozens of others, survivor Shauna Hardy said she thought she and her family were going to die.
Speaking to the Associated Press on Tuesday, Hardy described the moments after the attack, remembers the "awful smell" and "people running, screaming."
She was at the concert with her husband Ryan Hardy and her 11-year-old daughter Rihanna when the explosion happened.
Everyone "tried to get out as quick as they could" and they "just ran straight into absolute chaos", she recalled.
The concert tickets had been a Christmas present for Rihanna, who was still "really frightened" when a door slammed at their hotel hours after they made it out safe.
She said they felt lucky to be alive.
"Knowing that we got our daughter out safe with us is just a real blessing."
