Description: After 30 days of investigation, three federal police officers, in a marked vehicle (GM / S10), on /1/.2011, around noon, kept one of two possible clues in which the investigators would land an airplane in the city Of Pontal (Ribeirão Preto region), interior of São Paulo. Two other teams guarded the other lane a few miles ahead. Having spotted the plane, the first crew heads quickly to the dirt track, deviates from two gangs (GM / Silverado and Toyota / Hilux SW4) from the gang trying to stop her from reaching the plane, and smashes the wing of the aircraft to abort its takeoff.
One of the policemen descends and apprehends the pilot with a rifle. The rest of the team returns to the highway to reach the two vehicles that tried to stop the approach of the airplane. He is supported by the other two teams which, with lighter vehicles (VW / Golf and Citroen / C3), overtake them on the highway and reach the white van (GM / Silverado). Five people were arrested. $200,000 Real (approximately $60,000 USD) of smuggled goods, two vehicles, a firearm and imported cosmetics were seized. There are strong indications that the gang and the plane are also linked to drug trafficking.
The PF Intelligence Unit found that drug trafficking and smugglers use the same airplanes and the same runways, and the runway that appears in the video had been used weeks earlier by traffickers who also had the drug and the aircraft seized.
In the last five years, the Federal Police have already seized twelve (12) aircraft in the region of Ribeirão Preto, of which eight were linked to drug trafficking and four to smuggling, including video, contraband, and more than twenty-five tons of drugs (marijuana and cocaine).
