Fairly old remix I made over the summer of 2025. Mega Man is a franchise I have a very complicated relationship with. By the time he was introduced to Super Smash Bros in 2014 in the fourth entry, I was just as mixed and didn't know how to feel. Over the years, my feelings on his Smash portrayal have soured mostly due to the focus on NES overrepresentation and trying to make him look and animate like his 8-bit sprite. While it's easy to just say it was because my favorite mainline entry for the longest time before 11 was the ever-controversial Mega Man 8, I couldn't help but feel: much like Pac-Man, if he were introduced to Smash sooner rather than later, his representation and portrayal would have been drastically different.

I mostly used MM8 samples but also resorted to other Roland synths and even instruments from Marvel Vs. Capcom, which is how I envisioned how Mega Man would look and feel closer to alongside being primarily based on the most recent mainline entry at the time. The render was by me though, the Mario rig was done by ‪@ThaGurlTilly‬ while the Mega Man model was done by ‪@rafaelaknight‬: I just gave it more colorful textures and some fancy new materials.
