We originally thought of transcribing Animenz's iconic arrangement of Unravel (sung by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure) for piano duet, but instead ended up making an arrangement based more closely on the original song. It was quite a challenge, as there is so much going on behind the amazing vocals by TK, but the complexity worked well for the 20-finger format!

-- Some notes on the arrangement and performance--
The abrupt rests in the vocal line are an essential part of the expressive nature of the song, so we highlighted that in the opening section, as well as a few sudden pauses later on 1:03 and 2:28.

We had fun turning the infamous jump section from the first page of Animenz’s arrangement, into a jumble of hand crossings in both of our parts! (0:33)

One of our favorite moments is the buildup to TK screaming “Unraveling the world!” at 1:57. The repetition of the same musical phrases over and over in this song (for example ”Ugokenai" - "I'm unable to move" 1:50) to build up to a climax is a very classical composition technique, used very often in Beethoven’s music.

The section right after features filler passages in the primo part in an improvisational style. The final chorus at 3:23 is now a third above its original pitch, giving it an unfamiliar but still recognizable feel.
