Amidst the pandemic doldrums I reached out to the ridiculously talented @KennyLeeYoung to collaborate on a little melody I had cooking up that was inspired by a phrase I had heard in a speech someone was saying on tv, something like: “…that holy mystery of love”

Music has always been my savior and during the pandemic it became my life raft. I have usually written music for other people and projects, but when the world shut down for a while, I had to let out some of the music within me. On one particular day I was feeling particularly hopeful. With this one lyric in mind, I recalled all my favorite influences that have brought me joy over the years — The Blues Brothers, Joe Cocker and Traffic, @CoryWongMusic, ‪@Vulf‬ , James Brown, Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin to name a few — and this tune came out.

Then I reached out to the brilliant singer/songwriter Kenny Lee Young, sending over bits of the music as it was coming together and he wrote the lyrics. It’s a song that celebrates that intangible and elusive feeling that whispers to us out of the darkness from time to time, giving us glimmers of the truth that’s written in the “cracks of the wall”, helping to solve that mysterious energy that binds us all, that holy mystery we call “love”.

So this is a part of me that you’re hearing. This is the first of hopefully many releases this year from my backlog of music from the past three years.
