How to Grid XYZ Data in Surfer Software

Описание к видео How to Grid XYZ Data in Surfer Software

In this video, TMI Solutions gives tutorial on how to use Surfer software to Grid XYZ Data. We used five different types of gridding methods among the twelve available in Surfer11 to show how to grid xyz data. We used the 3D wireframe plots to graphically show that the gridding methods in Surfer can actually produce different results and outputs for the same gridded file, because of the different underlying Mathematical functions or the algorithms. We used Kriging, Inverse distance to a power, Moving average, Polynomial regression and Local polynomial as chosen methods of gridding in this video tutorial.

What the software does to grid the xyz data is use the x and y plane of the raw xyz data to create a mesh of evenly gridded notes over the entire surface, and then use the raw data and its position in the z plane to interpolate and provide data for the entire grid nodes, including points not originally sampled.

This video will particularly be useful to beginners and many others who may have interest in using Surfer software for their project.
