Описание к видео Dirac Delta Function | एक impossible function जिसके बिना अधूरी है theoretical physics

The delta function is a mathematical concept that has played a significant role in various areas of science and engineering, from quantum mechanics to signal processing and probability theory. Although its origins can be traced back to the mid-19th century, the delta function as we know it today was developed and refined by several mathematicians and physicists in the 20th century. From the early work of Paul Duhamel and Oliver Heaviside to the revolutionary contributions of Paul Dirac, the delta function has become an indispensable tool in mathematical analysis, paving the way for numerous discoveries and innovations in a wide range of fields. The motivation behind the development of the delta function was to create a mathematical tool that could represent the behavior of certain physical systems in a more precise way than was previously possible.

In quantum mechanics, which is the branch of physics that deals with the behavior of particles on a very small scale, it is often necessary to consider systems that have “point masses” or “point charges.” These are particles that are concentrated in a very small region of space and have a very large mass or charge density. The behavior of such particles is difficult to model using traditional mathematical functions since they would require an infinite amount of energy to create.

Dirac realized that he could create a mathematical function that would represent a point mass or point charge by using a limiting process. He defined the delta function as a distribution that would approach infinity at the origin but would integrate to one over any interval that included the origin.

This allowed him to represent point masses or impulses mathematically, and he used the delta function to make significant contributions to the development of quantum mechanics and other areas of physics.
