The Most Exciting Football Game EVER - Dave Volsky's 'One Last Moment For The Master'

Back in February 2020, on my now defunct channel, I posted an offshoot of my 'NFL Sight & Sound' film. It was the creation of a fictional second-half of a game made up of hundreds of clips from different NFL Films programs. This video was titled 'The Most Thrilling Second Half Of Football' and is currently posted and archived on GodzillaRocks' Youtube channel ---    • {REUPLOAD} The Most Thrilling 2nd Hal...

This video was always my favorite creation.

I watched that many times over the last half of 2020 and realized that I wanted to tighten it up a bit in places and correct a few errors I had made - even if I was the only one who was going to see it. I took to work on making some adjustments to it back in early January.

As I went along making a few changes, I got it in mind to replace a bunch of the play clips with better ones, both in terms of quality and impact. Kinda snowballed on me and the revision took on a life of its own as I delved deeper and deeper into the process, searching hundreds of NFL Films programs for better clips to possibly utilize.

A couple months later I was close to finishing, then I hit upon the idea of completely changing the entire game by tweaking the halftime score, majorly expanding the film, and revamping the ending, which I felt was too quick, convenient, and cliche in the original.

By this point, seeing the effort and time I was putting into it, I had definitely decided to try to release this on my secondary 'Back Door' channel when it was complete so that hopefully some of my loyal fans could still get to see it, even if I felt that the film might not stay up too long and be taken down by the NFL because they deemed it a threat to their empire.

With this new focus, the project evolved into something GRAND. Whereas the first third of the film is completely in-your-face action without giving you time to breathe, the last two-thirds REALLY slow things down to an 'Inception'-like crawl and get very dramatic and intense - the last 2 minutes of the fictional game take almost 40 minutes of film time to get through.

I didn't think it was possible to achieve this, but I took my sweet time on it until each part was perfect - sometimes it took me three weeks to create a couple minutes of the film. I carefully and methodically arranged the footage in a logical manner, chose dead-on music for each portion (heavy Spence) to heighten the overall mood, and utilized just the right audio clips from players, coaches, and fans to really put you into the game and transport you back in time.

Also, by some miracle, I was able to maintain a rising suspense at the end with each successive play. Thought for sure there'd be a letdown somewhere, but it never happened and I pulled it off, somehow.

I often felt that Steve Sabol and Sam Spence were being channeled through me while I was working on this.

Here we are, 6 months later, and the film is finished. I've done something which I didn't think was possible - bring these players and coaches back to life and let them play once more - or at least this is as close to that as anyone could ever manage!

Eat your heart out NFL Films - in a million years you guys could never create something with as much nostalgia, tension, drama, heart, soul, and love of the players and game of the past as I have here.
