In the early '90s, Rikers Island became ground zero for one of the most powerful gang movements in East Coast history: the rise of the United Blood Nation (UBN). Out of the violence and chaos, the first Blood sets were born — each with its own story, leaders, wars, and legacy.

🩸 Nine Trey Gangsters (NTG)
The first and most feared. Founded by O.G. Mack and Deadeye inside Rikers in 1993. From slashing enemies behind bars to running Harlem drug corners, Nine Trey set the tone for violence and power.

🩸 G-Shine Bloods
The force that pushed the Blood movement deep into Brooklyn and beyond. Known for tight organization and expanding UBN’s footprint across New York neighborhoods.

🩸 One Eight Trey (183rd Gangster Bloods)
The Bronx soldiers. One Eight Trey became O.G. Mack’s home set after his prison release, locking down 183rd Street and Fordham Road with street hustle and brutal enforcement.

🩸 Valentine Bloods
Based around Valentine Avenue in the Bronx. Smaller but battle-hardened, these Bloods fought back against Crips, Latin Kings, and Trinitarios to hold down their turf.

🩸 Sex Money Murder (SMM)
The money-makers. Ruthless, flashy, and ambitious — SMM dominated street-level drug sales and were known for brutal discipline and flashy street rep.

🩸 59 Brims
Another early and respected set that helped hold down Brooklyn territory during the Bloods’ early wars with Crip sets and Hispanic gangs.
