ODE TO MOUNTAINEERS! 🇳🇵

Every year, the world visits Nepal for its mountains
This year, we take the mountains to the world!

Theme by me - I wanted to do something that had never been done before, take the pride of Nepal to the Universe.

Nepal’s National costume for the 69th Miss Universe is an ‘Ode to Mountaineers', created by Bina Ghale, that embodies the importance of mountains to the Nepalese and also to those who dream to stand on top of the world.

Inspired by mountaineering gear worn by summiteers, Everest Outfitters has created the mountaineering suit with traditional Sherpa Bakhu brocade.

The metal and stonework in the headgear, oxygen mask, collar, gloves, and boots have been handcrafted by artisans with more than 30 years of experience. All metal works are 24-carat gold plated whereas the stonework uses big sizes of semi-precious turquoise stones.

The props that complete the National costume have been created by the team at National Innovation Center, led by philanthropist Mahabir Pun. The motorized wings of Buddhist prayer flags are enclosed with a Mandala on the back.

The staff has also been detailed with 2D laser cut Mandalas on the side and a Bajra on the handle. With a press of a button, it opens up to a 3D hand-painted canvas of Mount Everest!
