Woodturning - Shattered Emerald (first epoxy resin cast fail)

welcome to this weeks woodturning video.

In this woodworking video I use a woodturning lathe to turn a vase from wood and epoxy resin. woodandresin

when woodturning a hybrid blank like this I like to nibble away at it until I see what shape the wood wants to be, this is what is so enjoyable about woodturning.

this was my first ever attempt at casting epoxy resin. so yes, it pretty awful.
I feel its important to post my failures on here as well as the work I like.
as it turns out the epoxy resin got too hot while curing which caused it to shatter and leave ugly great big cracks throughout the whole blank.

I also struggled to cut the resin with my traditional woodturning tools so will be looking for any recommendations for tools to cut resin more effectively
if you have any suggestions leave them down in the comments below.

I did my best to make good of a bad situation and feel the piece could have been quite beautiful if it wasn't for the badly cast resin.

I learnt ALOT from first attempt and im really looking forward to perfecting woodlandresin turning.
