-Has a neck plate, but the neck is also glued on. So that sucker ain't going anywhere. -These pickups have been called “the crudest pickups in history” because they don't have a proper housing. The face plate attaches to the face of the instrument, and then the pickup guts live in the body rout. So there's no adjusting the pickup height. Fortunately, they're right where they need to be, so it's not an issue. But it is a fun sort of “okay, so we’re just going with that, then?” design oddity. While they do have a strip of gold foil, they are not the same as the gold foil pickups of Teisco or DeArmond fame. Those are surface-mount with bobbins that are about ⅛” deep. Same era, similar superficial appearance, but a whole different type of cat. Where those purr, these growl. Both are great, great pickups but for straight bombast, these just cannot be beat.

-Weighs approximately as much as a small child or an impressive turkey dinner. The neck has some beef to it, but in a comfortable way even for smaller hands. 1 11/16” nut width, 33 ½” scale, body width 12 ½” at lower bout.
