Hunter Smith live at the Gnarly Whale Sounds studio!

Saxophonist and Nashville native Hunter Smith is a fiery and dedicated player with a large
sound and a passion for music. Hunter is an alumni of the jazz programs at the University of Tennessee (BM) and New England Conservatory (MM) where he studied with legendary musicians Jerry Bergonzi, Mark Turner, Donny McCaslin, Miguel Zenon, and Gregory Tardy. After NEC, Hunter moved to New York City to explore the world’s premier jazz scene.

In 2019, he moved back to Nashville - excited to pursue music and bring the cutting edge of the scene back to his hometown. Currently, Hunter tours with Country star Jamey Johnson. When not on the road he performs all over Nashville between rock/pop on Broadway, jazz shows at Rudy’s Jazz Room, and recording remotely from his home studio. Hunter Smith has proven himself over the years to be a hardworking and versatile musician who makes himself an indispensable part of any project.

Hunter will be releasing his first album as a band leader later this year.
