Using your units optimally is what separates the moderately skilled Gamers from the highly skilled Gamers, in order to do this you need to know which units counter what (kill bonus) and what they resist. Unit specs included at the start of every battle.

BroTip:
target units manually (but don't overkill), this way the offensive capacity of the opponent goes down as fast as possible.
if you have a huge mass of units, use the attack move. (select your army, press the x on your keyboard and at the same time click on a unit you want to attack /click left mouse button).
