According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, a mysterious balloon that was seen flying over Utah “posed no threat to national security.” Inside Edition learned that the balloon was sent aloft by a hobbyist who lives in Illinois. We were able to identify him by the balloon's radio call sign but he does not want to be named. The U.S. military may be seeing more sightings as amateur ballooning grows in popularity.
