Across the rural backroads of Central Western Maine, too many of our neighbors are living in unsafe and unstable housing, floors that are ready to give way, roofs that leak with every storm, windows that can’t keep out the bitter cold, and mobility barriers that endanger daily life.

Mission at the Eastward (MATE) steps into this need with hope, compassion, and skilled volunteer labor. Through essential home repairs and transitional housing, we help families and aging Mainers regain safety, stability, and dignity, one home at a time.

In the past four years, requests for help have risen dramatically. Yet with your support, MATE has:

✓ Increased the number of homes repaired by 49%
✓ Increased the number of people served by 53%
✓ Welcomed 351 volunteers from 10 states, our largest turnout since before COVID
✓ Hosted a family of five in our transitional housing program in 2025
✓ Invested in new tools and equipment to expand our capacity
✓ Spent 85% of all vendor dollars with Maine-based businesses, strengthening the local economy in which we serve

Still, many families remain on our waiting list, hoping their home will be repaired next season.
