We Leave Our Caravan For A 4wd Adventure | Finke Gorge NP | Episode 25

Before we leave our caravan behind for an adventure to Boggy Hole we set-off for a day trip into Palm Valley.

A short but challenging 4wd track leads from the campground into the heart of Palm Valley. While many choose to walk some or all of the track, that's not Simon's idea of fun! Liz had a turn in the driver's seat as well and enjoyed having a crack at some of the more challenging sections while Simon spotted from outside the vehicle.

At the end of the drive, we're rewarded with a stunning gorge lined with waterholes and the rare Red Cabbage Tree Palms the area is named after. We chose the shorter of the two walks here and after a short steep climb up to the edge of the gorge, we enjoyed an easy walk with views into the valley below.

After descending back into the valley an east stroll along the valley floor lead us back to the parking area. With Simon back in the driver's seat we headed back to the caravan for a chilled-out afternoon before digging into flathead with veggies for dinner. Not bad considering we were about as far from an ocean as you can get in Australia.

The next morning we leave the caravan with the camp host and set off in search of Boggy Hole. A quick top-up of fuel in Hermanssburg and then we're back into the National Park for more 4wding.

Another stunning drive to enjoy as we pass through varying terrain and track conditions. Most of the track is pretty easy going with a few challenging sections to keep it interesting.

Lunch at Boggy Hole (which is much nicer than it sounds) and then we set off in search of camp.

Join us next week as we push on to the southern end of the Boggy Hole 4wd track and head to Kings Canyon.
