Todd Lyons, who is the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), refused to publicly apologize for the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti in Minnesota during a congressional hearing on Tuesday.

Lyons also declined to comment on the Trump administration's claims that both Good and Pretti, who were killed during protests over the immigration enforcement actions in Minneapolis, were involved in domestic terrorism.

The remarks came as lawmakers sharply questioned Lyons, as well as two other DHS leaders, over the federal response to the protests and the conduct of immigration agents on the ground, with Democrats accusing the administration of escalating tensions and mischaracterizing those killed.
