Episode 2: Agar, Liquid Culture, and Grain Spawn oh my!

🍄‍🟫 Now that I have a flow hood up and running, I've begun a number of experiments with agar, liquid culture, and grain spawn. In this episode, I've begun to play with different recipes and growing methods, to compare the results and sort out what works best for me. I began by cleaning up contaminated cultures using activated charcoal agar, while culturing spores in different liquid culture recipes to see which grew best (and stayed clean!) Once I had a nice collection of clean plates, I began inoculating grain jars with agar, something I have never done before. I also started an experiment with 6 different grains, and a mix of all six, to see which would fully colonize the fastest. I am also inoculating BRFV jars with liquid culture to PF tek in a newly built aqua-box fruiting chamber (which I will share in a future episode.)
