Final Fantasy VII (PSX) - Final Bosses and Ending

Time to beat the biggest mama's boy in the universe.

First off is Jenova*SYNTHESIS. She's not a big deal - her tentacles do some damage, and she falls hard to multiple target magic. After she gets weak, she'll do a countdown and when that ends, she'll cast Ultima which hurts a lot. Defeating her with Knights of The Round will boost the HP of the next bosses, which you usually don't want to but meh. I only put her here due to that.

Next is Bizarro*Sephiroth, and this fight is kind of a mess. Depending on factors such as getting Yuffie and Vincent in your party and your average character levels, you'll face this beast with 1, 2 or 3 parties. It'll default to 1 party if Jenova managed to cast Ultima. Most people will see 2 parties, and to get 3, you must have all characters and their level total average must be over 67.

Bizarro*Sephiroth will get 60k bonus HP if you killed Jenova with KoTR. It'll also gain bonus stats the more characters you have at Lv99.

This boss is comprised of several parts, all pretty much named the same thing but are known as: Head, Right and Left Magic, Core and the Body. To win, you must defeat the Body, but the Core will periodically heal the Body if it's still alive, and will be invincible until your other parties manage to defeat the Cores of their respective battles. Only the Body and the Core have actual turns, the other parts just modify the attacks used by them. The Left Magic will enable Fire3 and Quake3, and the Right enables Ice3 and Bolt3; both can absorb their respective elements. If both the Head and Core are alive, the Body can cast Stigma which causes damage and adds Slow and Poison to the whole party, or use Sephiroth Shock for some moderate damage against a single target. If the Core is defeated and the Head is alive, it can use Heartless Angel which reduces everyone's HP to 1. If the Head is destroyed at any time, it'll counter with Demi3 to a single target.

Once any part is destroyed, you'll get a prompt to switch to your other parties, which will be picked at random (?). Destroying the Magics of the other parties will make their Cores vulnerable to damage, and once both Cores are dead you can kill the Core on Cloud's party - just pick the option to cycle back to the other parties until you get Cloud (make sure you don't pick it again once you're done with both sides).

This battle sounds more complicated than it is. Ultima will wreck all parts. If your damage output is good enough, you don't even need to bother with the other parties. I decided to do the fight the "right way" because not many people might see the 3 parts fight.

Finally, it's Safer*Sephiroth. Big boy here is actually pretty straight forward - he adheres to a strict pattern and will never deviate. He'll always open with Wall (Barrier and MBarrier, cutting down your damage to him), then Deen (weak damage) or Shadowflare (pretty strong NE damage), and a physical attack. Then he flies up in the air and becomes out of reach unless you have ranged attacks or Long Range Materia, then Pale Horse (magic damage, Frog, Small and Sadness to one), Super Nova (a VERY LONG attack that cuts your party's HP to 15/16 and cause Confusion, Slow and Silence), Break (earth magic damage + Petrify) or Heartless Angel if his HP is low. Then he'll go back down and cast DeSpell instead of Wall, repeating the pattern.

Safer will have stronger stats the more characters you have at Lv99, plus 80k more HP if you defeated Jenova with KoTR.

FF7 is an easy game, and I actually held back a LOT and it was still not enough to make Sephy shine. This fight is balanced around Lv40 or something, so it's very easy to overlevel. Equip everyone with Ribbons to avoid the nasty debuffs, and just pummel him with everything you have. His most dangerous stuff cannot kill your whole party and gives plenty of time for you to recover, AND fills up your Limit gauges. That's seriously it. Full speed Active ATB makes barriers and Haste worthless, but if you are very low level and playing on Wait, it helps a lot - Safer can also be Slowed.

The Cloud vs Sephiroth fight, if you take too long to use Omnislash, Cloud will just counter Sephy's attack and end the battle.
