Vintage 1990s Casio W740 In Depth Review and Battery Change

Описание к видео Vintage 1990s Casio W740 In Depth Review and Battery Change

This is a watch that I purchased somewhere around 1994. Although I already had a Casio watch with many of the same functions and features, I wanted this one because of its superior backlight. It's the great Electro-Luminescence light. The funny thing about this watch is that, in the year 2021, I can still find it for sale brand new. But the new ones use a different module than the one I purchased in the 1990s. The reason? The pre-programmed calendar on mine can be set to any date from the year 1990 through the year 2029. The newer versions can be set to any date from the year 2000 through 2099.
Here's a pro tip. If you have a watch like this which can't show dates beyond 2029 but you still want to use it beyond 2029, just set the date to 28 years earlier than the current date. The watch's day-of-the-week display will be correct.

This watch has a 24-hour countdown timer (with or without auto-repeat) and a 24-hour stopwatch. The alarm can be set to sound on specific dates or every day of a certain month, once a month on the same day of the month OR every day of the year. The backlight can be set to flash when the alarm sounds, when the countdown timer ends and when the hourly signal sounds.

This watch uses a CR 2016 lithium battery. The case is rated as water resistant to 100 meters. This older one uses Module 1219. Newer versions use Module 3231 and, I think, at least one other module too.

This watch is very similar to the DW290 with module 1189 and the G-Shock DW-6800 with module 1288. It also has the same functions as the DW8300.
