Students embark on a journey of discovery through sound, vibrations and energy; exploring the secret life of musical instruments and how they work. Using trash as a resource opens a discussion about sustainability and responsibility. This STEAM program is great as a stand-alone performance, or as a follow-up to any of our shows. About Bash the Trash:
Bash the Trash builds and performs on musical instruments made from trash, making connections to science, plastic pollution and climate change along the way. We offer live and virtual performances in schools, festivals, museums and other venues, as well as hands-on and virtual workshops, residencies, and professional development sessions. Bash the Trash consists of 35+ performers and educators nationwide and abroad. BTT was formed 30+ years ago by husband-and-wife co-directors John Bertles & Carina Piaggio. BTT was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and a Grammy Award for the creation of a set of unique instruments made from beach trash for the Tony-award winning Broadway show "Once on This Island."
