한미일 산업장관회의 첫 개최 "공급망•첨단기술 협력 새 장"

South Korea, the U.S., and Japan held their first inaugural industry ministerial meeting on Wednesday to seek ways to boost trilateral cooperation on supply chains and economic security.
What can the three sides get from each other?
We're joined by Professor Yang Hee-dong.

Welcome back.

1. Why did the trilateral discussion take place now?
What makes them think it's necessary to hold such a meeting?

2. What makes the U.S. and Japan attractive partners for Seoul to collaborate with on securing supply chains and economic security?

3. What is there for South Korea to offer and in what way could it possibly lead trilateral cooperation in supply chain and trade?

4. In fact, Seoul and Tokyo in a separate meeting agreed to newly launch a working group on cooperation in the supply chain for clean hydrogen and ammonia. Why? What makes the two good partners?

5. The U.S. has been asking South Korea and the U.S. to join its efforts in enforcing export control measures to block China's access to advanced chip technology and AI.
Will Seoul and Tokyo join Washington?

Thank you so much for joining us as always.
