UPY 701 and 639 (GP15-1 pair) were seen switching the Belivdere yard on a very breezy and cool (about 57 degrees F) September night. A couple days later on October 2nd, I stopped by the same location to check out what was going on. GMTX 2198 (GP38-2) was switching with UPY 716(GP15-1). They set out a hopper from a string of autoracks. Then they put the autoracks back and took the hopper to the company a few thousand feet down the line. Next, they went empty and drove straight into Chrysler. Finally they pulled out the other leg of the wye with 2198 sandwiched between 716 and the rest of the train. That's how that consist got flipped. I talked to the owner of the plot of land across from the grain bin, just to make sure he didn't care that I hung out there. And he was fine with it, so I have a new cool hang out spot by the tracks in town :) Oh, note the UPY 1409 MP15AC. That locomotive is an ex Milwaukee Road locomotive built as MILW 445 in January of 1976. Pretty crazy to think about the miles this locomotive has, and yet it is still running. At least I'd assume. It moved last week when I saw it. A GP15-1 pulled into the shed with 1409 attached. Then it pulled out with another GP15-1. But I haven't seen it alone run, so who knows. Clearly has seen better days.
