How to Grapevine [ Dance Fundamentals Tutorial ]

Описание к видео How to Grapevine [ Dance Fundamentals Tutorial ]

Grapevines show up in different styles of dance in different ways. At its core (and how it often shows up in styles like jazz or musical theatre), grapevines are four steps repeated over and over again. Step one foot directly out to the side, cross the other foot behind, step back out with that original foot, and then cross the other foot in front. Repeat.

In hip hop and social dancing (i.e. Uncle Greg’s wedding), a common way to incorporate grapevines is by changing that fourth step (the step in front) to a touch. Step one foot directly out to the side, cross the other foot behind, step back out with that original foot, and then touch that other foot. Now you’re ready to go the other way, starting with the foot you just touched. When doing a grapevine in this context, feel free to let your upper body be free. Explore different arm movements. Plié to add different levels. Move your hips. In other words, make it fun.

Ex. Step out to the side with the right, step behind with the left, step out to the side again with the right, touch with the left. Step out to the side with the left, step behind with the right, step out the side again with the left, touch with the right, etc.
