In Surah Ash-Shams Allah swears by the sun and its brightness, the moon, the day, the night, the sky, and the earth. These are from the greatest of creation of Allah, and then The Creator swears right after with the soul (an-nafs) and by the One who proportioned it, all to prepare us to hear something really important regarding an-nafs. There are two types of nafs: one that has wickedness, and the other is righteous. Allah then clarifies success lies with the one who purifies the nafs, while failure for the one who instills disobedience.

By the sun and its brightness. And [by] the moon when it follows it. And [by] the day when it displays it. And [by] the night when it covers it. And [by] the sky and He who constructed it. And [by] the earth and He who spread it. And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it. And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, He has succeeded who purifies it, And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. [Quran 91: 1-10]

The main objective of the creation is tawheed, and he who purifies his nafs, purifies his heart, will earn the success and have happiness. Purify yourself by obeying Allah – learn the different means of purification shared in the lecture, and also learn about those who choose to engage in wickedness and disobey their Rubb for they will corrupt their soul and fail completely.
