I came across the "GoldRupee Instant Loan App" which promised an instant loan of up to Rs 600,000 with repayment terms of 91-121 days. I decided to investigate the app to determine its authenticity. After completing the investigation, I submitted an observation sheet to the concerned jury presiding over cases against fake Chinese & Filipino loan applications.

In my observation sheet, I included my findings on how the app would request dangerous permissions on the phone, such as access to location, gallery, contacts, SMS, calls, and files. Upon granting these permissions, the scammers running the application could gain access to the private and confidential data of unsuspecting victims.

Later, the scammers would contact the victim using international numbers through calls, messages, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc., to threaten them. Some of the threats include editing the photos stolen from the victim's phone, creating fake nude images, and sending them to the victim's contacts. In some cases, the threats include defaming the victim as a loan defaulter, all as part of an international cyber extortion racket to extort money from the victim.

I hereby advise you not to install the app on your phone, and if you have already installed it, please uninstall it immediately and block all incoming communications from the scammers.
