Stories of heroes who did the impossible when everyone said it couldn't be done.
Every week, we bring you:

📚 WHY ARMY STORIE?
Unlike other military channels, we focus on the SOLDIERS BEHIND THE MISSIONS.
We tell the stories of:
The blind sniper who killed 79 enemies using only sound
The soldier who lost 100 pounds in combat and became a hero
The "criminal" burglar who became the Army's best infiltration specialist
The soldier with Tourette's whose tics disappeared in combat
And Marcus Hayes—the soldier with Fatal Insomnia who fought 127 hours without sleep
These aren't just combat stories. These are stories of HUMAN TRIUMPH.

🎖️ THIS WEEK'S STORY: Marcus Hayes
Marcus Hayes was 24 years old when doctors diagnosed him with Fatal Familial Insomnia—a rare, incurable disease that prevents sleep. Prognosis: 18 months to live.
The Army wanted to discharge him. His platoon mocked him as "Hayes the Zombie." They said he'd die from exhaustion in combat.
They were wrong.
Marcus deployed to Afghanistan. For 3 years, he fought without sleeping. While other soldiers collapsed from exhaustion, Marcus kept going.
In August 2018, Marcus completed a 127-hour continuous combat operation. Five days and seven hours. Non-stop fighting. Zero sleep. Zero rest.
He eliminated 83 Taliban fighters. He rescued 50 civilians. He set the record for the longest continuous combat operation in modern military history.
Because the disease that was killing him—Fatal Familial Insomnia—made him invincible in battle.
He couldn't sleep. So he never stopped fighting.
Marcus received the Silver Star for valor. He lived 42 months after diagnosis—not the predicted 18 months.
Fatal Familial Insomnia finally claimed him in September 2019. He was 27 years old.
He's buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His gravestone reads:
"HE NEVER SLEPT. HE NEVER STOPPED. 127 HOURS OF VALOR."
This is his story. Subscribe to hear more stories like this—stories of soldiers who refused to quit, who turned weaknesses into weapons, and who became legends.
