Despite being a fairly new airport in its sixth year, the Istanbul Airport is ranked among the world’s top airports. It’s received multiple awards and maintained its leading position in Europe in daily flight traffic three consecutive years in a row. Recently, the airport also marked a new milestone in global aviation history.

It successfully launched its triple runway system in mid-April, where three aircrafts will be able to land or take off simultaneously on completely independent runways. This makes it the first in Europe and second in the world after the US. While the Istanbul Airport is designed to accommodate up to 200 million passengers per year, it's current capacity is around 90 million. Dubbed as the most connected airport in the world, it now eyes to launch quadruple runway operations. Also with its 'smart airport' and 'digital transport' ambitions, is the Istanbul Airport set to become the hottest spot for global aviation?
