The game takes place on the fictional land named Yuria. A medieval fantasy world in Conan the Barbarian style.
An evil entity known as Death Adder captured the king and his daughter, keeping both in captivity inside his castle. Death Adder also encounters the Golden Ax, which is the symbol of Yuria, with which he threatens to destroy both the ax and the royal family, unless the people of Yuria accept him as ruler.
Then three warriors set off on a mission to save Yuria and avenge their losses at the hands of Death Adder. The first is Gilius Thunderhead, from the Wolud Mines, who had his twin brother murdered by Death Adder's soldiers. The second is the barbarian Ax Battler, who seeks revenge for the murder of his mother. And in the end, but not least, we have Tyris Flare, who had his parents murdered by Death Adder himself.
The warriors rescued the inhabitants of the then sacked Turtle Village, which is named for being in the hull of a giant tortoise. This turtle takes the heroes across the sea and then flew to the castle of Death Adder on the back of a giant eagle. Once in the castle, the heroes defeat Death Adder, who was dominating the Golden Ax and save Yuria.

O jogo se passa na terra fictícia nomeada Yuria. um mundo de fantasia medieval no estilo Conan o Bárbaro.
Uma entidade maléfica conhecida como Death Adder capturou o rei e sua filha, mantendo os dois em cativeiro dentro de seu castelo. Death Adder também encontra o Golden Axe (Machado de Ouro), que é o símbolo de Yuria, com isso, ele ameaça destruir tanto o machado quanto a família real, a menos que o povo de Yuria o aceite como governante.
Então, três guerreiros partem em uma missão de salvar Yuria e vingar suas perdas pelas mãos de Death Adder. O primeiro é Gilius Thunderhead, das minas de Wolud, que teve seu irmão gêmeo assassinado pelos soldados de Death Adder. O segundo é o bárbaro Ax Battler, que procura vingança pelo assassinato de sua mãe. E no final, mas não menos importante, temos Tyris Flare, que teve seus pais assassinados pelo próprio Death Adder.
Os guerreiros resgataram os habitantes da então saqueada Turtle Village (Vilarejo Tartaruga), que tem esse nome por se encontrar no casco de uma tartaruga gigante. Essa tartaruga leva os heróis através do mar e em seguida voaram para o castelo de Death Adder nas costas de uma águia gigante. Uma vez no castelo, os heróis derrotam Death Adder, que estava dominando o Golden Axe e salvam Yuria.
