Circle Chapter 12 NEB | Part 6|Ex 8.1 -4(c) & 4(d)| To find the equation of tangent to a circle in gereral from when point is not given. In this video we will focus on finding the equation of tangent to a circle in general form where we are asked to find the equation of tangent on the given circle which is parallel or perpendicular to a the given line.
Case (i) If the tangent is paralle to a given line ax +by + c =0, then equation of tangent is
ax+by+k=0. Whare k is constant which is obained by using the concept of condition for tangentcy . That is the length of perpendicular distance from the center to the line is equal to the radius of circle.
Case(2) If the tangent is paralle to a given line ax +by + c =0, then equation of tangent is
bx-ay+k=0. Whare k is constant which is obained by using the concept of condition for tangentcy . That is the length of perpendicular distance from the center to the line is equal to the radius of circle.
