Here are some details about the project. This Young-hee robot is based entirely on a project by Jason Altice of CodeMakesItGo. He created the original program for the Arduino UNO and created all the files for 3D printing and supporting documentation. I am incredibly grateful to him for his assistance in my efforts to re-create his work. I wanted this to run on the Arduino MEGA 2560, since that was the board I had and it had more I/O options. This required altering the program and some of the libraries. He actually purchased a 2560 board so he could do the debugging for me. He also helped with advice on various issues I hit along the way.
I had to connect all the sensors and circuitry using several breadboards all interconnected to prove out the entire electrical setup. Once everything was finally working, new wiring of appropriate length had to be selected and meticulously labeled. Only then could I lay out the components on a shield board and start soldering.
I diverged slightly from the original plans on a few cosmetic decisions and slight changes to the circuitry and design. Some individual parts took almost 2 days to print while some others were close to a day. I did not want to rush some of the tall parts because printer vibration could cause them to fall over and fail. Many parts had to be painted after printing. Many parts are epoxied together, but some parts are held by magnets.
I started this project in January 2022 and finished it on June 15. It took roughly 200 hours, give or take.
I think the sheer size of this Squid Games Doll makes it a little intimidating. And the fact it talks, its head swivels and the eyes change colors adds to the creep factor.
