Join us in this episode where we explore the Secret Abandoned Mine of RAF Chilmark North! Located in the heart of the Wiltshire Countryside, its known as Teffont Quarry or Linda Barrow mine.

The Limestone quarry was created to provide stone for Salisbury Cathedral. The quarry closed in 1935 when demand for limestone fell due to the increased use of concrete, which quickly became the preferred choice for construction. In 1936, the area was purchased by the Air Ministry, and by 1937, it became an RAF ammunition depot. Throughout the mine, you can see the old narrow-gauge rails inside which would of ferried the necessary ammunition in and out when needed.

Due to the type of stone, the mine was of a very high standard, and proved vital throughout the war. It officially closed for good in 1995. Join us inside!
