Albin Kälin, CEO of EPEA Switzerland, has a long track record in implementing the Cradle-to-Cradle design philosophy in practice. After presenting the three basic Cradle-to-Cradle principles, Albin explained the different aspects that are checked in the process of Cradle-to-Cradle certification. Next, he shared examples of products that have already achieved Cradle-to-Cradle certification, including adhesives, textiles from biodegradable (though not yet bio-based) polymers, a plastic pouch for detergents (of which 90% of the material can be retrieved at the original quality), and a clothing line which is returned to the producer at end of life and used to make new textiles.
